Virtual Summer Research at CUHK

Conduct VIRTUAL  research at CUHK ( Chinese University of Hong Kong)  for SUMMER 2021!!

The Chinese University of Hong Kong Summer Undergraduate Research Programme (SURP)  provides students with the opportunity to conduct research for 8 weeks at CUHK with faculty and researchers who are experts in their field.

  • Develop research skills and knowledge in a specific area of interest
  • Join a world-class research team and work alongside leading experts in the field from your home

  • Immerse in the local culture through virtual activities and excursions
  • Discover new ideas through interaction with other international students

Students are able to choose from a variety of approximately 50 different research topics.  Please note, research work and reports will be conducted in Englsih.  However, different projecs may have different language requirements as set out by supervisors.     

Application requirements:

  • Good academic and behavioral standing
  • Must be studying in your third year or higher at the time of application
  • Minimum 2.75 GPA 
  • Please check partner school for additional requirements

 

CUHK will not charge tuition for the Summer 2021 research program but a refundable deposit of US200 is required.  See details on the CUHK website.  

Students are eligible to earn 3 credits for their research at CUHK upon successful completion of the program. If you are seeking academic credit to transfer to the University of Pittsburgh, please consult with your academic advisor. Keep in mind if you want to get academic credit at Pitt, additional tuition cost and fees will apply. You must alert Engineering International Programs prior to program start date if you plan to transfer credit.

Application Instructions: 

Students must complete BOTH the Pitt application AND CUHK application by stated deadlines.  Please apply to Pitt's application via this portal per our deadline of March 1, 2021.  You should at the same time, also complete the separate CUHK's SURP program application here. CUKH's application deadline is March 15, 2021. Please check the CUHK website for complete details. 

Approixinately 80 students will be chosen from around the world to partcipate in this program.

Konnichiwa! After working for the JET program in Japan for just over two years, I decided to pursue a career in international education. I returned to the US via a few months of travel -slowing making my way west with many stops in stunning locations and with amazing people.
