IPL International Summer School: France

Spend 5 weeks in beautiful Lyon and enjoy a truly global experience at the IPL International Summer School! in Lyon, France!

 Classes are in English but you can also improve your French language skills while studying at one of the four IPL engineering schools. Students take one 3 credit engineering course in English and you can take French language classes as well.

Requirements:

  • Good academic and behavioral standing
  • Must be studying in your second year or higher at the time of application
  • Minimum 2.75 GPA 
  • Please check partner school for additional requirements

Cost of the program:  Please check with the provider's website. Please note once you are registered for the program, you will be charged the $300 study abroad fee through the Pitt Pay system. Remember that your lifestyle and spending choices can greatly affect the amount of money you'll need while abroad.  Visit our Budgeting page for more information.

Academic Description
Please refer to the IPL Summer School site for the most up to date information on available courses. In the past, the program provided four different opportunities focusing on the following topics: Chemical Engineering and Chemical Analysis, Energy and Sustainability, Agroecology and Food systems and Polymer and Material Sciences engineering.

You must first be accepted by the Swanson School of Engineering International Programs Office, then you will be directed to apply to the IPL Summer School application. Prior to being accepted by Pitt, please read the IPL Summer school application. Please review IPL's deadline, it's typically in April.

Konnichiwa! After working for the JET program in Japan for just over two years, I decided to pursue a career in international education. I returned to the US via a few months of travel -slowing making my way west with many stops in stunning locations and with amazing people. Whenever possible, I continue to love exploring new countries and cultures! I have been fortunate to work both as an administrator and as a classroom educator in higher education; my areas of interest are international, adult and comparative education.  I enjoy assisting engineering students seize international opportunities!
