Synopsis of his presentation:

“Why study eigenvectors and eigenvalues?... I’ll never use them!” my college roommate once retorted. For me, it turned out, nothing could have been farther from the truth: they became the bread and butter of my career. In retrospect, it is curious that linear algebra played such a critical role in tracing a nonlinear career that deflected an aspiring American medical school student in rural Venezuela, into a software developer working on machine learning in Paris.   This talk is about crafting your education with the goal of an international and interdisciplinary career. It is an exhortation, from the minutiae to the philosophical, to exploring the world as part of your studies, internships, and profession.
