The Gilman-McCain Scholarship is a congressionally funded initiative of the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs at the U.S. Department of State and named after the late senator John S. Knight-Hennessy Scholars are future global change agents who demonstrate independent thought, purposeful leadership, and a civic mindset. Graduating seniors and recent graduates can apply up to four years after receiving their first undergraduate degree.

The Bridging Project offers scholarships to American undergraduate students participating in study-abroad programs in Japan. The United States-Japan Bridging Foundation funds scholarships administered through AATJ to help students study abroad in Japan for a semester or an academic year. In 2014 JASW established the Tanaka and Green Academic Scholarships to support short-term academic study (one semester or one academic year) at colleges and universities in Japan.
