Pitt in Rome - Advanced Italian

Study and live in the Eternal City of Rome, Italy. Students will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in Italian conversations while discovering the rich Italian way of life, la dolce vita. This six-week, 7-credit program is designed for students for Italian Majors and Minors interested in Italian Language, Culture and Modern Italy. Students will take two advanced language courses based on their prior level of Italian language and a one-credit history and culture course.

IES Siena

IES Siena: Spend Fall or Spring in the breathtaking Tuscan countryside; no Italian study required prior to program. Explore historical and contemporary Tuscan culture in the classroom and the city. Internships possible, course-related excursions and field trips arranged by the program. Housing is student apartments or homestay.




IES Rome

Come to the Eternal City and study either Language and Area Studies or choose a 12-week Tourism and Cultural Heritage Management track. A full-time resident staff will help you to make Rome both your classroom and your home. Take Italian language appropriate to your level; most content courses in both tracks taught in English by local faculty. Engage with locals within Rome and while participating in extracurricular and course-related excursions in such destinations as Tuscany, the Amalfi coast, Assisi, and more. Students of Archeology and Classics will find this program to be a great fit.

IES Milan

IES Milan: Fall, Spring and a Summer Internship option are offered in this 2,000 year old city steeped in culture and history. Track are Business Studies, Italy Today or Music: Tradition and Innovation. Students may enroll at a local partner university with help from IES staff or take classes at the IES Study Center. Content courses are taught in English. Excursions exploring Italy are included. Housing is homestay or shared apartments.




CIEE Ferrara

Fall, Spring, and Full Year programs. Just because you can’t speak Italian doesn’t mean you can’t take advantage of the amazing discoveries waiting for you in Ferrara. Take courses in Italian language and culture or liberal arts in a super-livable small city known for its old-world charm, breathtaking castle, and easy-to-explore arts. Students can choose to stay in apartments or with local families to practice their Italian language skills. 

Arcadia Perugia

A beautiful and historic university city, Perugia is also a well-known cultural and artistic center of Italy. Choose from programs focusing on Food + Sustainability Studies, Archaeology, and Italian Language + Culture, or take courses directly through the Umbra Institute or the Università degli Studi di Perugia. Each program offers you the unique opportunity to gain a truly immersive experience in Italian culture and in the European style of education, with Italian and international students. Housing, excursions, and additional experiences vary by program. 

AIFS Florence

AIFS Florence, Italy: Fall, Spring, Summer and Year (Fall & Spring) terms. Study traditional courses in a city where artistic, cultural, and historic richness is ever present and is full of museums, churches, art galleries and other historical sites. Courses available in Italian and English, no previous Italian language study required; internships and volunteer opportunities are available. Some excursions and cultural activities are included. Others available for a fee. Housing is homestay or student apartments.
